"BeachTime" Shadow Box

Hey everyone!
This week I have created a little hanging shadowbox.  I created this box out of chipboard and used the Sweet Summer Shape Set.
The picture inside the box is of my niece and nephew, and they are ready for the beach!

I did the crackle technique on the bucket and shovel.  I painted them with gesso, then added my crackle medium.  Once the medium dried I added the grey paint, which I just mixed black and white gesso together (since I didn't have grey!!).  Once that dried I inked it with black distress ink around the edges.  I added some twine to the handle of the shovel, which I used the technique on as well only using brown paint.

I sun, I painted with gesso then I used some some watercolor paints from Colorarte to give it a golden color.  I then inked the edges of the sun with vintage photo distress ink.

I also did the crackle technique to the piece on the front of the box,  Which is like a covered sand box with a shovel and bucket.  I painted it with brown paint, added the crackle medium, and once that was dry I added some ivory acrylic paint.  I added some pattern paper and a few flowers to the the box.  This was a very quick and simple project, but its so cute!!  I then added twine and some letter beads that hang from the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!!

Father's Day Cards

Fathers Day is right around the corner, so I decided this week to make some Fathers Day Cards.
I by no means am a card maker, but I do at least try and attempt them.
My first card is very simple, but masculine!  I used black cardstock and pattern paper from my stash for the base.  I then layered black cardstock with cream cardstock.  I used the Compass Shape Set along with a piece from the Miniatures Guy Thing set.  I inked the edge of the telescope with Walnut stain distress ink.  I left the chipboard pieces their natural color.  They just didn't need anything to make them stand out at all.  I then added some metal letters to spell out the word "Dad" along the edge of the cardstock.

My second card I used the Gears Borders & Corners set and a gear from Miniatures Guy Thing set.
I inked the gear corner piece with walnut stain distress ink and vintage photo ink.  I then added clear embossing powder and it gave it a rusted look.  I then used walnut stain ink to the smaller gear at the top as well as the chipboard letters.  I used glossy accents on the letters.  I then added some metal gears to give more dimension.

Below is a close up of the gear corner piece.

I hope you like the cards I have created.

"Cherish" Trinket Box

Hello Everyone!
On this fine Saturday, I am sharing this weeks project, which is one of Gina's boxes.
This is the "Trinket Box".  I love to alter all sorts of boxes and when I saw this one I knew I had to have it and make it beautiful!!
I papered the top and sides of the box and then used gesso along the edges.  I didn't paint this box at all, I left it its natural color, which I absolutely love!  The color of the pieces is just so very rich and dark!

I added lace and some black trim all away around the box and used gesso to soften the black trim.  I then added on of the key plates to the front of the box.  I painted the key plate with brown paint mixed with snowtex to give it some dimension.  I then inked it with distress ink and added some gesso to soften it just a little bit.  I then added some flat back pearls to resemble bolts.  I added some wooden pieces to the bottom for feet.

On the box lid I added a word piece that I painted with white gesso and then added some snowtex for dimension. I then sprayed it with some homemade glimmer mist to give it some color.  I then used distress inks and gesso to soften it up.  I did the same technique to the butterfly.  I also added a piece from the Delicate Frames & Ornament set.  I painted it green and inked it with black distress ink and to finish it off I used my finger to add gesso to soften it.  I then added flowers, stamens and a pearl spray to finish off the corner.

At the opposite corner I used one of the Grape Vine pieces as a base for the flower cluster.  I painted the vine with green paint, inked it with black distress ink and softened it up with gesso.

This box was so easy and fun to do.  It came together very quick and easy.  I hope you like this project and if you haven't already you need to visit Gina's store!  She has amazing products!!

Mixed Media "Believe" Tag

Welcome to this weeks project!

Mixed Media "Believe" Tag

This is a 4 1/2 x 7 1/2 chipboard tag, that I created.  I added paper from My Minds Eye.  I took a piece of the paper and ripped it, then added distress ink to the edges to make it stand out.  I then used one of the mixed media fragments set 2.  I cut it in half and placed it on the edge of the tag at the top and the bottom.  I inked it with black distress ink, then used a dry brush and added gesso to make it stand out.

I used my clock stencil and used some modeling paste to give some texture.  I then used my walnut ink spray for more dimension.  I added a resin oval frame on top of some cheesecloth.  I added some flowers from my stash along with a clock charm, which I gessoed.

I took one of the words from, 10 Words Shape Set, and gessoed it, then added black distress ink.

At the bottom I added a resin birdcage, flowers, cheesecloth and a word pin.  I inked the whole tag with black distress ink.
