"Beautiful" Altered Canvas

Welcome everyone to this weeks DT project for Gina's Designs!
This week I decided to do an altered canvas that has a picture of my "Beautiful" daughter just before her prom.  I wanted to keep this simple and elegant.  This is a 12 x 12 canvas, that has paper from My Minds Eye.  I layered the paper with white cardstock and layered the photo also with the same cardstock.  I inked all the edges with Broken China distress ink.

I layered behind the photo the Deco Lattice Panel 2, which I gessoed then added watered down Broken China distress ink to give it a softened look.  I then added flowers to the corner along with Grape Vines, which I cut up and tucked in behind the flower clusters.  I also used a doily from Cardstock Doily Set 1.

Here you can just see the doily sticking out from under the trim and lace under the pattern paper.  You can also see more of the Grape Vine piece.

I then took one of the words from Words and Phrases 1.  I gessoed the word then inked it with distress ink.  I then used clear embossing powder to make it pop.

Here you can see the other half of the doily I used, along with more of the grape vine.

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks project.

"Beach" Brush Caddy

Welcome everyone to this weeks project!
This week I have altered another brush caddy for a client.
I have also used Beach Shape Set to decorate this one.  I used paper from Graphic 45, "On the Boardwalk" collection.  The paper I used reminded me of waves at the beach.  I inked the edges of the paper with Broken China distress ink.  I added some beaded trim, that goes all away around the caddy.

I used several of the sea shells, the fence and the lighthouse for this one.  I gave the lighthouse a crackle effect, doing several layers with different colored paints.  I then inked it with 2 different distress inks, Broken China and Vintage Photo.  I then added some flowers and stamens from my stash.

The sea shells I gave a textured look, by using snowtex and paint.  I painted the pieces with gesso and then I mixed the paint and snowtex together then added it to the shells.  I then added gesso once they dried to soften the colors up just a little bit.  I did the same to the fence underneath.

Here I have added a flower cluster and I used one of the star fish, that I tucked in behind the flowers.  I inked the white flowers with Broken China distress ink.  i just love the blues!!

On the back I just kept it very simple, since this might not be seen.  I added a few of the sea shells to the bottom and added a flower.  I then added the lobster to the top.   I then added some feet that were also inked with Broken China distress ink.

This one was so much fun to make and I hope my client loves it just as much as I do.  It just makes me want to go to the beach and play in the sand and water.  I hope you like what I have done.

"Dream" Mixed Media Canvas

Well this week I tackled something that I have been wanting to try for awhile.  I did a mixed media canvas.  This is my very first one! I am very happy with the way it came out.
I used an 8x10 canvas to create this project.

I used several of Gina's Designs Lasercuts on this canvas.
I used some modeling paste and a stencil to create some texture.  I then added several lasercuts to the canvas.  I added butterflies, a vine with a leaf, mixed media fragment, the word dream and a key with a keyhole.  I then painted everything with gesso, so that I had a base to add my pastel paints.  To finish off the canvas I added some walnut stain spray to give some shading under the elements I used on the canvas.

Under the vine I added some lace and cheesecloth to give more texture.  I also added some beads to the vine from my stash.  Two of the corners I added metal corner pieces, which I also gessoed.  I added a metal butterfly to the largest butterfly.  I then finished it off with adding white roses, which I used pastel pink paint on.  I also added red rosebuds that I gessoed to soften them up, along with some beaded sprays that I cut up and tucked in.  Under the white rose to the left is a metal flower from my stash.

In this corner I have the mixed media fragment along with a paper doily and cheesecloth, more texture!!  I then added the word "Dream".  I also added a wooden clock piece from my stash.  I then added a resin frame and I have a small butterfly inside and then added more lace above the frame.  Again more texture!  To finish off the corner I added some flowers and a beaded spray.  I used gesso on the red rosebuds to soften them up.  I also added pastel pink paint to the white rose.

Here I have the lasercut key and keyhole, to which I added a metal key on top.  I then gessoed and used my pastel paints.  I finished it off with 2 small open roses.

The more I look at my canvas the more I am very happy with it.  I hope you like what I have done!

Mother's Day Cards

Welcome everyone!  This week I have decided to make some cards for Mother's Day.  I wanted to keep them simple but elegant.
I used some white textured cardstock for the bases of these cards.  I used paper from my stash.
The first card I used one of the Intricate cardstock doilies, along with a medium garden fairy.  I inked the edges of the doily with Victorian Velvet distress ink to make it stand out on the paper.  I then sprayed the fairy with my homemade glimmer mist and then used clear embossing powder to give it a nice shine.  I then added some lace and pearl trim from my stash.  I also added a rose and some leaves and I then made a banner with the saying "Happy Mothers Day", which I also inked the edges of it.

My second card I used the Damask Singles, the medium size one for this.  I also used some of the negative pieces of the damask at the bottom.  I inked all the pieces with Victorian Velvet ink and then I added crackle accents to all the pieces.  I then added flowers and pearl sprays.  I also added pearls to all the corners and then to the banner on the front.

I hope you have enjoyed the cards I made.  I enjoyed making them and love how elegant they look.
